More than 160 people have gainfully secured employment recently with local IT companies in the North West thanks to a unique business and educational partnership with NWRC, the Donegal Education and Training Board (ETB), and Pramerica Systems Ireland Ltd., that offers software development training to individuals who have little or no computer programming experience.
Now in its 10th year, the Software Developer course is a 32-week training programme that equips students with practical programming and software testing skills, and includes a four-week placement at a local IT company. It covers programming languages such as Mainframe COBOL, SQL, Java and C#, and all aspects of testing including automation. Fifteen students from the most recent course were hired as trainees with Pramerica Systems Ireland Ltd.
