College Students Selected for WorldSkills Brazil

Three College students have been selected to represent the UK in the WorldSkills Finals which will be held in Sao Paulo Brazil next year.  Martin McLaughlin will compete in the Floor and Wall Tiling section, and will be accompanied by William Falconer and Adrian Canning who will both take part in the Electrical Installation section.   They are part of a 17 strong contingent from NI to be part of the UK squad.

WorldSkills is the largest international skills competition in the world and in previous years has attracted over 150,000 visitors. Held bi-annually, the competition sees around 1,000 young people, aged 18-25, from all over the world come together to compete for medals in more than 40 different skills, including electrical installation, car painting, web design, cooking and plumbing.  The UK squad was selected from over 1500 potential candidates from across Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland.  Also joining the three College students in Brazil will be NWRC Lecturer David McCay who has been chosen as UK training manager for the Wall and Floor tiling section.
