Limavady Sports lecturer Ivor Neill is
now the fittest man over 60 in Ireland, according to Crossfit.
Ivor is one
of 157,000 people globally who last year signed up to take part in five
workouts, five times a week, under the supervision of a Crossfit coach. After scoring in the top twenty in his age group, Ivor was then invited to the regional finals, where he was assessed again and officially crowned as the fittest crossfitter over the age of 60 in Ireland.
“Crossfit is quite unique,” he said. “You have to be good at everything including lifting weights, gymnastics, running, cycling and all cardiovascular activities.”
Ivor (60), who has been teaching at NWRC for the past 30 years is determined to retain his crown next year.
“Age is no barrier to keeping fit,” he said. “The body was made for movement. I’ve always been into sports especially water sports such as kayaking and sailing and I also try and eat well.”
