Danielle's Fashion Success

Former Foundation Art student Danielle McGilloway is making her mark on the fashion world. Danielle completed her degree at Huddersfield University and is now launching her career with a showcase at the London Surface Design Show - read her story on the Londonderry Sentinel website.

'Europe for All' Malta Visit

12 students from Hair, Beauty & Early Years, Health & Social Care, and Hospitality, Tourism & Sport depart tomorrow for a 2 week work placement in Malta through the Leonardo IVT Lifelong Learning Programme. 
STAFF & STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES: The ERASMUS project offers staff and students on HE courses work experience in Europe - if you or your students might be interested please email Bridgita Kelly in the Business Support Centre.

Choose to Live Better / Eat Healthier

Health Matters! Today Derry City Council and the Public Health Agency will have a stand in the Foyer of the Tower Building from 10am - 1pm with information for staff on healthy eating and offering simple assessments of BMI/waistlines to help you identify any potential health risks. The Choose to Live Better website says men with a waistline of 40 inches or more, and 35 inches or more for women, are at high risk of serious illness, e.g. the risk of developing some cancers, heart disease and type 2 diabetes. www.choosetolivebetter.com

The Show represents over 100 students’ work in drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, prints, textiles, fashion design and multi-media. The exhibiting students have been inspired by themes such as culture and personal, local myths and legends, landscape, natural form and portraiture.

Consultation on the Review of Apprenticeships

The Department for Employment and Learning is keen to hear your views on the findings of a review which aims to shape the future of apprenticeships in Northern Ireland. This review seeks to ensure that apprenticeships play a major role, supplying the skills to reflect the changing needs of the economy and offer highly regarded educational pathway. The views expressed through the consultation will help to consolidate the Department's thinking in moving forward, to develop a revitalised apprenticeship model for Northern Ireland. The Department will publish the way forward in the summer of 2014. The interim report and consultation document can be accessed here

Higher Education Graduation 2013



Just before the Christmas holidays over 550 graduates were honoured at the Annual Higher Education Graduation ceremony, held in the Millennium Forum.  Full and Part-time graduates were joined by friends, family and staff in marking their achievements on a wide range of College HE programmes.   Photos from the event can be viewed on our Flickr Account
