• To provide an overview of the new council and its new community planning powers;
• To introduce students to Community Planning;
• To provide an insight into how Councils plan to consult regarding the Community Plan, how to get involved and the importance of young people being involved in the process, given the young population of the council area.
After the presentation by
the CEO, NWRC students will have the opportunity to pose questions to him
relating to what the Council will be able to do for them, suggest things that
they would like the Council to do, or do better than they are doing
currently, and ask things relating to the new area which the Council have
responsibility for currently / will in the future that affects them most. Mr Kelpie is very keen on
the open question / forum piece and giving young people the chance to voice
their concerns and opinions to him which he will answer (if he can) at the
time. Transport is being
provided from the Limavady and Strabane Campuses, and refeshements will be served.
