National Autism Awareness Day Thursday 2nd April 2015
NWRC L3 Travel & Tourism student Louise Christy, and Learning Support Staff, Sharon McDaid, Sarah Turner, Kate Harley and Anne Bradley are all ready for the National Autism Awareness Day on Thursday 2nd April . They are encouraging as many staff as possible to wear something Blue on Thursday. The Tower Building will also light up Blue on 2nd April to show NWRC support for this annual Worldwide Autism Awareness campaign.

Dance & Drama wins for NWRC
The students from Performing Arts at NWRC excelled yesterday during the 3rd annual Performing Arts NI competition, hosted in the Foyle Theatre, NRC, SERC and SRC students competed with our own students in 7 categories, and we picked up five 1st & 2nd place awards including 1st place in the Group Dance for Ascent, for the second consecutive year. For the 3 year in a row the college won 1st place and took 2nd place in Monologue, as well as 2nd in Stand Up Comedy, and Group Drama. Well done to all involved.

QUB STEM Scholarships
Congratulations
to former North West Regional College students Odhran Cummings & Cormac
O'Hagan who received STEM scholarship awards from Queens University Belfast
yesterday evening. These awards included a financial bursary to help support
their academic studies. Odhran is currently undertaking electronic engineering with QUB, while
Cormac is an undergraduate computer software student. Very well done to both from
everyone at North West Regional College.

Open Day - THANK YOU
A huge thank you to all college staff and students who supported the Open Day activities across all College Campuses yesterday. The 'Have a Go' interactive activities in particular proved very beneficial to the prospective learners and guests who attended and participated throughout the day.

Open Day: 19th March 2-8pm
Open Day will take place on Thursday 19th March from 2pm - 8pm across all college campuses. This year the focus is on giving the prospective students an interactive hands-on experience, under the UK Skills Show Experience: Find a Future.

US NavComm Scholarships awarded
During the 'Success through STEM' Masterclass hosted by NWRC last week, four students from the School of Science & Technology were presented with the US Navcommsta
Londonderry Alumni Association Scholarships.
This year the scholarships were presented by Drew O'Brien, US Special Representative for Global Partnerships within the US State Department, alongside Minister for Employment & Learning, Dr Stephen Farry. The recipients were IT students Adam Brown and Niamh Henderson and Engineering students Miriam O'Donnell and Darryl McAleese.
