NWRC Business students excelled themselves this week at the Young Enterprise NI Trade Show at Foyleside Shopping Centre. Great sales and profit were achieved by Level 2 Business and Level 3 Business students from our Strand Road and Limavady campuses.
Significant learning also took place by applying skills and knowledge to developing ideas and products to sell in the marketplace.Much hard work went into this successful event by the NWRC students and staff, and all are to be commended on their success.

Performing Arts Students Enjoy London Visit
Students from our HND Performing Arts course have just returned from an exciting trip to London, taking in the Tate Modern Art Gallery and visiting the Natural History Museum. Following some very enjoyable guided tours around the City, the students rounded-off their trip by taking-in a West End show 'Matilda'.

FABLAB NI at Limavady Campus

West Regional College Limavady welcomed the staff from the Nerve Centre’s Fab
Lab last week for a fantastic practical session to explore their design and
creativity skills, and to see how they would utilise the various new
technologies available in the Fab Lab. During the session, students from
Engineering, Construction and Foundation Art & Design worked with the Nerve
Centre team to design prototypes using the laser cutter, 3D printer and

NWRC U-18 Soccer team progress to Quarter-Finals
Congratulations to our mens U-18 soccer team who defeated Southern Regional College 4-3 in Wednesday's 4th round match of the N. Ireland U-18 cup. The game was played in Stangmore Park Armagh in very adverse weather conditions, and credit must go to both sets of players for playing such quality football throughout the 90minutes. Best of luck to the NWRC side as they now prepare to take on reigning champions Belfast Met in their forthcoming quarter-final clash.

The Show: Exhibition at Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre
Limavady Art & Design students last week launched their third showcase exhibition celebrating their creative talent at the RVACC. 'The Show' represents a selection of current works including
drawings, paintings, photography, sculpture, prints, textiles, fashion design
and multimedia artwork by each individual student, inspired by a wide variety
of themes such as culture and personal, local myths and legends, landscape,
natural form and portraiture, and is just one of the events NWRC will be involved in as part of 2015: The Year of Irish Design. The exhibition runs until 21st February.

Students prepare for Malta trip
Students and staff from across a variety of courses and campuses gathered last week to prepare for their 2 week study/work placement visit to Malta. The group will leave on 24th January - the trip is arranged through the Erasmus programme.

Reminder: Hardship Funds
Please remind your students that applications are still being accepted for the Hardship Funds.
They can apply for the Hardship Fund to assist with travel costs, childcare, part time fees and general living & maintenance costs.
If they apply before the 20th January, and are eligible, they may get back payments to September 2014
If they apply after this date, they will not receive back payments. Applications available from Student Services.
