School Links Industry Visit

Pupils from Limavady's Post Primary Schools had the chance to visit the PSNI Roads Policing Unit and Donnelly & Taggart at Campsie through the College's School Links programme recently.  Those undertaking the VEP Motor Vehicle Course at Greystone enjoyed their morning exploring job opportunities with the leading motor sales and repair company, and then met with Inspector Stephen Haslett and his team.

AutoSkills Competition at Springtown

Europe for All Presentation

In January a group of NWRC students participated in a work placement trip to Malta funded with the support of the Commission of the European Communities within the framework of the LLP Leonardo Programme.  12 students from Strand Rd and Limavady were hosted by our partner in Malta, Luxol Sports Club.  They enjoyed two weeks of work placement in Health & Social Care, Hairdressing Hospitality & Tourism and Early Years.  For many of these students it was their first time on a plane or away from home on their own.  The student preparation and project organisation was managed by the Business Support Centre.  A presentation was held to mark the student's participation in the project.

Celeb Chef Ian helps Yvonne win Gold

Ireland's Chef of the Year Ian Orr helped lecturer Ursula Murphy to mentor Level 3 student Yvonne Curran before the recent IFEX competition in Belfast.  Yvonne won the Gold Medal in the Senior Duck category against professional chefs from industry.  You can read more here

Carla wins Royal Opera House Challenge

Limavady Art & Design student Carla Heron won the Costume Design category at the prestigious Royal Opera House Design Challenge in London recently.  Carla Heron was one of 5 students from NWRC who made it to the final of the competition, and picked up her award during a special performance of Sleeping Beauty.  You can read more here.

Big Dance Pledge - Rehearsal Tomorrow

ULIXES Initiative

A number of organisations involved in EU Vocational Education and Training (VET) and Professional Higher Education attended a conference at North West Regional College (NWRC) this week to discuss the opportunities available through the new EU Erasmus + programme with a budget of €14.7 billion which was agreed by the European Commission in January 2014.  You can read more here.

IT...But not as you know IT!

'IT...But not as you know IT' brought the BBC, Troll Inc, Seagate, Learning Pool and more industry representatives directly in contact with students keen to explore a career in IT.  You can read more here and view the photo gallery here.
